Met Office: Manchester to Hit 30C This Week

Greater Manchester could see temperatures hit 31°C in the coming days as another heatwave is expected to hit the region, according to the Met Office. The forecast comes after the UK recorded a new June temperature record of 37.7°C on Friday June 26 at Lingwood in Norfolk, beating the 37.3°C recorded at Santon Downham in Suffolk the same day.

Gradual Temperature Rise Through the Week

Temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the next week. The Met Office forecasts Manchester to see highs of 21°C on Tuesday July 7, 26°C on Wednesday July 8, and 28°C on Thursday July 9. On Friday July 10, temperatures are predicted to soar to 30°C.

Met Office Forecast for the North West

Issuing a forecast for the north west from Wednesday to Friday, the Met Office said: "Turning increasingly bright over the next few days with some warm sunny spell, particularly in the south where it will feel warm. Patchy cloud at times in the north."

Weekend Outlook

The Met Office also forecasts a warm weekend, though temperatures are expected to drop slightly from Friday. Highs of around 27°C are predicted for Manchester on Saturday July 11 and 26°C on Sunday July 12.

Heat Health Alerts Issued

With temperatures set to rise across Manchester and the wider UK, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued yellow heat health alerts across five regions of England: East Midlands, South East, South West, East of England, and London. The alerts were issued at the weekend and are set to remain in place until 8pm on Saturday July 11.
