Met Office Names 49 UK Areas Facing Rain on Sunday – Full List
Met Office Lists 49 Areas for Rain on Sunday

Nearly 50 UK counties will be covered in rain on Sunday, according to Met Office weather maps. The band of rainy weather will almost cover Scotland and parts of Northern England while the south will be left dry and bright, with temperatures reaching up to 29°C.

Met Office weather maps show the weather front moving in from the west on Sunday morning, with showers over parts of Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland, west England and North Wales at 6am. By 8.15am, the rain will have moved further east in England reaching the Pennines, while the showers will have spread across Northern Ireland.

Rain Timing and Coverage

Sunday morning appears relatively dry for northern Scotland, with showers concentrated over the south of the country. By afternoon, however, the rain sets in across the North. It will almost completely cover Scotland by 1pm, with heavier rain over parts of southern Scotland. Showers will stretch down to Manchester and across Northumberland, but Wales and the south of England will be largely dry at this point. Northern Ireland will be drier, though the northern coast will still experience some rain.

By 7pm, the rain will have moved east, leaving large parts of England dry, with showers hanging over the Pennines. Wales and Northern Ireland will be dry. However, Scotland will still be drenched, with heavy spots in Aberdeenshire and Invernesshire.

Meteorologist's Forecast

Clare Nasir, meteorologist at the Met Office, said we can expect a wet day in the North with warm temperatures in the South, which will turn hot next week. In today's video forecast, she said: "Notice through evening time and overnight the winds pick up a little strength associated with this weather front which clears, but more rain then arrives covering most of Scotland into Sunday. The rain will again affect Northern Ireland and Northern England from time to time, coming and going, but the most persistent bursts will always be across the North and the northwest. A fine day across Yorkshire, south England and Wales. Temperatures on the up, we could see 29°C towards the southeast of England."
