The Met Office has identified 24 areas across Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales that are set to experience heavy rain on Monday. The forecast comes after a prolonged period of hot weather, with temperatures reaching 35°C during three heatwaves in May, June, and July.
Forecast Details
According to the forecaster, Monday "will be cloudier with further showers or longer outbreaks of rain," while southern parts of the UK are expected to see drier and sunnier conditions. Rain could begin as early as Sunday as a period of changeable weather continues.
Met Office chief meteorologist Dan Suri said: "After a prolonged spell of hot, dry and settled weather, some will see a temporary change this weekend as weather fronts move south-east across the UK." He added that many places will receive relatively little rainfall, and southern England is likely to remain dry with temperatures recovering quickly, potentially bringing very warm or locally hot weather again.
