Met Office Forecasts Rain Across 49 UK Counties on Monday

Some much-needed rain will fall across the UK on Monday, with the Met Office forecasting showers in 49 counties. Although many regions will see a pleasant and sunny day, rain is expected to impact northern areas initially before drifting eastward. The showers are likely to be light, but could turn heavy over western hills, according to the Met Office.

Monday's Rain Forecast

Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: “Heading into Monday, once again [we will see] a bit of a mix. We’ll see some cloud, some showers, mostly feeding into western areas, making their way eastwards. The showers will be mostly light, and many areas of England and Wales are going to be dry once again with some sunshine.”

The Met Office’s weather maps show rain falling in 49 counties across the UK on Monday. These include areas in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

England: Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Yorkshire.

Wales: Caernarfonshire, Merioneth, Montgomeryshire, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Radnorshire, Brecknockshire, Glamorgan.

Scotland: Ross-shire and Cromartyshire, Inverness-shire, Argyllshire, Morayshire, Banffshire, Perthshire, Sutherland, Stirlingshire, Dunbarton, Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, Kirkcudbrightshire, Dumfriesshire, Peeblesshire, Selkirkshire, Aberdeenshire, Caithness, Orkney, Fife, Kinross-shire, Clackmannanshire, Buteshire.

Northern Ireland: Londonderry, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Antrim, Down, Armagh.

Temperature Outlook

Temperatures are expected to climb again on Monday, with highs of 26-27C possible in the south-east of England. The mercury should reach 30C on Tuesday, with the Met Office indicating another heatwave is on the cards next week.

BBC Weather Forecast

The BBC also forecasts some rain on Monday. Its outlook states: “Tomorrow, much of the UK will be dry with spells of sunshine and cloudy intervals, but brighter in the south-east. It will be cloudy across the far west, with a few light showers. Generally warmer. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and windy in the north, with outbreaks of rain. The south will remain largely dry, with some sunny spells in the south-east. Warmer. Wednesday will be hot and mostly sunny in the south. Further north, it will be cloudier with a few showers, these turning heavier and more widespread into Thursday. A hot, mostly dry and sunny day in the south.”
