London is primed for a third heatwave of the summer, with temperatures tipped to reach 34C on Monday, making the capital hotter than popular holiday destinations such as Ibiza and Barbados.
Forecast Details
The Met Office is forecasting a sudden intensification of the hot weather, with clear skies and scorching sun predicted each day this week. A heatwave could be declared on Monday in parts of the south-east, after temperatures topped 29C on Saturday and Sunday.
Health Alerts Issued
Yellow heat health alerts have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for all of the south of the country until 8pm on July 11. These alerts warn of potential health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions.
Impact on Daily Life
Residents and visitors are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors. The high temperatures are expected to affect travel, with potential delays on rail services due to speed restrictions and increased demand for cooling systems.
