Liverpool Set for Sun and Rising Temperatures This Weekend

Liverpool is basking in sunshine as temperatures are set to rise over the weekend, ahead of a heatwave expected next week. After a humid end to the working week, the city is enjoying a return to warmer weather.

Weekend Weather Forecast

According to BBC Weather, Liverpool will see sunny spells on Saturday, with temperatures reaching 19°C. This follows a Friday that saw highs of 22°C but remained overcast for much of the day. Clouds are expected to clear as the sun sets on Saturday evening, returning in the early hours of Sunday.

Sunday will be similar, with cloud lingering throughout the day, but sun is forecast to break through later in the morning. Temperatures are expected to hit 24°C during the afternoon as the sun continues to break through the clouds.

BBC Weather said: "Today will be a dry day with sunny spells and areas of cloud, these more widespread in the afternoon. Tonight will continue to be dry with variable amounts of cloud. Winds will be light or calm."

It continued: "Little change tomorrow, as it will remain variably cloudy throughout the day, although generally cloudier in the afternoon. Cloud will break up more widely towards the end of the day. A warmer day."

Festivals in Full Swing

Thousands of people are expected to enjoy live music at two major festivals this weekend: On The Waterfront and Africa Oyé. On The Waterfront is celebrating its fifth year in Liverpool, hosting a four-day festival featuring Paul Weller, Red Rum Club, and Snow Patrol.

Africa Oyé has returned to Sefton Park after a one-year hiatus. The festival, taking place on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, draws in thousands with live music, entertainment, and food stalls. It features artists from across Africa, as well as music from South America and the Caribbean, including salsa and reggae. Over 90 stalls will sell food, drink, arts, and crafts in the Oye village.

Next Week's Heatwave

Heading into next week, temperatures are expected to continue rising. Monday will see highs of 26°C, although unsettled weather may bring rain in the afternoon. The unsettled weather is expected to clear on Tuesday, with temperatures again reaching 26°C and wall-to-wall sunshine in the afternoon and evening.

BBC Weather said: "Monday will be a very warm day with sunny spells, areas of cloud and a chance of scattered thundery showers. Tuesday will remain very warm with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Wednesday looks to start with areas of low cloud but extensive sunshine should develop as the day progresses. It may turn a little less warm."
