The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) yellow heat health alert covering Liverpool and other parts of England was lifted on Friday, July 17 at 9pm. No weather warnings are currently in place from the UKHSA or the Met Office, but forecast models suggest a return to scorching temperatures may be imminent.
Next Week's Heatwave Predictions
According to the Global Forecast System (GFS) model, temperatures could rise into the 30s again starting July 27, peaking at 33C in western England and reaching 32C widely across southern areas. On July 28, temperatures could climb to 35C in southern and western England, with highs of 34C possible in the Midlands and eastern areas, and 31C in northern regions such as Merseyside.
The data suggests July 29 could be the hottest day of the year, with the mercury potentially reaching 38C across large parts of western, central, and eastern England. Highs of 37C are forecast from the south up to Yorkshire, according to the GFS model predictions.
Met Office Outlook
The Met Office stated it is too soon to confirm whether heatwave conditions will persist beyond the next 10 days and towards the end of July. However, its forecast for July 22 to July 31 indicates more "above average" conditions are possible.
For Thursday and Friday, the Met Office expects largely dry weather with variable cloud and sunny spells. A few showers are possible where cloud thickens, with temperatures around or just above average.
Liverpool's Weather Today
In Liverpool, the Met Office has forecast sunny weather throughout the day, though cooler than the high 20s and early 30s seen last week. Temperatures are predicted to hover around 20C for most of the day, reaching a high of 21C between 3pm and 4pm, then dropping to 18C by 11pm. There is less than a five percent chance of rain.
The Met Office forecast for the North West this week said: "Today: dry with sunny spells and patchy cloud on Monday morning. Cloud lifting and breaking through the afternoon to leave more lengthy sunshine. Feeling pleasantly warm. Maximum temperature 22C."
"Tonight: A dry and fine end to the day with plenty of evening sunshine. Staying dry overnight with clear spells, some patchy cloud and light winds. Minimum temperature 10C."
"Tuesday: Continuing largely fine, dry and settled, some thicker cloud around at times, perhaps with the odd spot of drizzle over the Lake District. Maximum temperature 20C."
"Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Largely dry over the next few days with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells. A few showers are possible where the cloud thickens. Temperatures around or just above average."

The UKHSA issued yellow heat health alerts for the East Midlands, East of England, London, North West, South East, South West, and West Midlands last week. These alerts ended on July 17 at 9pm.
