The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that Australia's east coast is in for another wet week, with persistent showers and possible storms forecast from Tuesday through Thursday. Senior meteorologist Angus Hines said the wet weather would stretch from the Illawarra through New South Wales, Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane and up to the Wide Bay in Queensland.
Mr Hines acknowledged that residents in Sydney and other parts of New South Wales would be 'sick of hearing this', but said the wet conditions would continue. Over the weekend, the east coast can expect 'slightly cool, slightly showery, maybe hail-like weather'.
Meanwhile, the west coast is also bracing for a cold front, with strong winds and rain expected to arrive in Perth around Tuesday. Weatherzone meteorologist Ben Domensino said there was potential for hazardous and severe weather along the east coast next week, though there was some 'forecast uncertainty' surrounding the system.
Mr Domensino explained that the pool of cold air associated with the wet weather would cause rain, hail and snow to spread over parts of south-eastern Australia on Friday and over the weekend, then become more focused on NSW and Queensland from Monday onwards. He noted that while there was disagreement between computer models regarding where and how much rain would fall, there was general consensus that rain would occur over parts of eastern Australia every day next week, with some models suggesting heavy rain sufficient to cause flooding.
