Two ships hit by drones off Bulgaria; one sinks, rescue underway

Two ships were hit by drones off the coast of Bulgaria in the Black Sea, and one of the vessels sank, leaving crew members missing. A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway for the missing crew following the incident, which took place 80 miles from the Bulgarian coast.

Distress signals and radar loss

The vessels sent distress signals at around 4am local time (2am BST), and one of them disappeared from the radar of the border police at around 9am local time (7am BST). The origin of the drones has not yet been established.

Rescues and injuries

A total of 18 sailors on the second vessel were rescued, with two of them seriously injured. The remaining 16 crew are reportedly in good condition.

This is reportedly the first attack on shipping in the NATO member country's economic area. This is a breaking news story.
