A Ryanair flight was met by emergency services after landing at Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday (September 1) when a passenger fell ill on board.
Flight FR6123 from Gdansk declared an in-flight emergency as it approached the Scottish capital, prompting medics to be dispatched to meet the aircraft on arrival.
Precautionary emergency declared
The crew alerted authorities as a precaution during the flight's descent after a passenger required medical assistance. Paramedics were waiting on the tarmac when the plane landed shortly before 5pm, according to Edinburgh Live.
The plane touched down at approximately 5pm after the pilot transmitted a 7700 squawk code - indicating a general emergency aboard. The pilot declared the emergency while descending into Edinburgh.
Passenger met by medics
A Ryanair spokesperson said: "Flight FR6123 from Gdansk to Edinburgh (1 Sept) called ahead as a precaution before landing at Edinburgh Airport after a passenger became ill on board."
"Crew called ahead for medical assistance to meet the aircraft upon landing at Edinburgh Airport. The passenger was disembarked and was met by medics."
