A Jet2 flight bound for London was evacuated at Tenerife South Airport following a bomb threat, causing brief disruptions to some flights this afternoon.
Incident details
Guardia Civil officers checked the Jet2 plane to London Stansted after reports that one person had made a bomb threat, according to Atlantic Hoy. Passengers had already boarded the aircraft before being told to disembark.
Luggage and passengers were checked as a precaution before the aircraft was given an all-clear.
Flight departure and arrival
The incident involved flight LS1536, which was scheduled to leave the Canary Islands’ second-largest airport at 11.20am. However, the Boeing 737 took off from Tenerife at about 2pm instead, according to the tracking website Flightradar24. The plane landed at Stansted at 5.49pm.
Jet2 statement
A spokesperson for Jet2 told Metro: ‘We can confirm that customers were asked to disembark a flight at Tenerife South Airport today following an incident involving a passenger onboard.
‘Customers have since reboarded and the flight has now landed at London Stansted as planned. We would like to apologise to everyone onboard for the delay and any inconvenience caused.’
Earlier this month, passengers were left terrified during an incident on Sepehran Airlines flight in Iran when the cabin ceiling collapsed. Footage shows travellers screaming, crying and praying as the aircraft shook violently and the interior lining caved in. Despite the dramatic scenes, no one is believed to have been injured, and passengers walked out of the plane after it had returned to Mashhad airport following the emergency.
