The Duke of Sussex could be earning nearly $1 million for exclusive speaking engagements that are not all charitable, an expert has said, as he made several appearances in the UK and US this week.
Prince Harry has not been a working royal for over six years, carving out his own career and money through opportunities including a Netflix docuseries, interviews, and his own book. Over recent years, he has also taken on more paid public speaking gigs at conferences and events around the world, many in America and California.
Appearances at US Events
This week, Harry spoke at a number of events in the US, including the Clinton Global Initiative's annual meeting on Wednesday, where he addressed the dangers of social media and artificial intelligence for children, and at the Skift Global Forum. He also made a surprise appearance on Thursday at an event hosted by The Diana Award.
While Harry has never disclosed how much he makes for speaking appearances, Eric Schiffer, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, told Page Six that his royal title and persona can still affect an event budget.
Estimated Fees
Schiffer said: "For a keynote, he's getting anywhere from $250,000 to $750,000 and for elite, exclusive events close to $1 million. But not every one of these stops is a cash grab with hidden checks."
He added: "A lot of his microphone is largely going to be unpaid, but he's getting the attention, and that keeps him in the spotlight and further bookable for other things."
Return to the UK
Harry's return to the US for engagements this week comes less than a month after his relocation to the UK. After quitting royal life in 2020, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle moved to Montecito, California, with their two children.
Weeks ago, it was confirmed the family were moving back to the UK, with the four arriving in Britain on a private jet last month. They have since been settling into a UK life outside of London.
