Gulfstream jet with six on board vanishes off Nantucket

A Gulfstream aircraft carrying six people has lost contact with authorities while flying from Bermuda to Boston, prompting a search operation off the coast of Nantucket.

Coast Guard launches search

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) said on Saturday that it lost contact with the aircraft early in the morning. Air and surface crews have been launched in search of the aircraft, the coast guard said.

The search is focused off the coast of Nantucket, according to the USCG Northeast District. Updates will be provided as information becomes available, the coast guard said.

Aircraft details

The aircraft is a Gulfstream G100, according to a post on X from Breaking Aviation News & Videos, which also reported that the aircraft had crashed into the Atlantic.

The coast guard's Northeast District posted on X: "#BREAKING : @uscg is searching for a Gulfstream aircraft with 6 persons on board. @FAANews reported losing contact w/the aircraft early Saturday morning. #USCG air & surface crews have launched in search of the aircraft. Updates will be provided here as info becomes available."
