A Greek F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed during an air show at Tanagra Airport, near Athens, on Saturday, with an explosion reported immediately after the crash.
Crash during Athens Flying Week
The incident occurred shortly before 3pm local time (1pm BST) during the Athens Flying Week air show, according to Greek public broadcaster ERT. Video footage from ERT showed a column of black smoke rising a few hundred metres from spectators.

Thousands of horrified spectators were present when the aircraft went down. The explosion happened right after the impact, as reported by ERT.
