Emergency services are at the scene of a large fire at a scrapyard in Glasgow. Fire crews were called to South Street in the early hours of Saturday morning, October 10, after local residents reported hearing explosions ringing out.
Footage shared on social media shows smoke billowing into the sky from around 11pm on Friday night. The flames are visible from across the city.
Nine appliances and specialist resources at the scene
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: "We are currently in attendance at a large fire affecting a scrap yard on South Street in Glasgow. Operations Control were first alerted at 11.23pm this evening, and we currently have nine fire appliances, two high reach appliances and specialist resources at the scene. There are no reported casualties."
