A £250,000 Ferrari supercar was destroyed after crashing on a busy motorway outside Manchester. Police shared a picture of the smashed-up red Ferrari 296 after it collided with traffic on the M602 in Salford.
The vehicle skidded out of control during a downpour, leaving its bonnet and electrics wrecked and front wheels badly damaged. Its driver survived the crash unharmed, police confirmed.
Police warning over wet conditions
Greater Manchester Police warned drivers to take extra care in wet conditions. The force said in a statement: “Unfortunately there’s one less Ferrari 296 in the world this morning after the driver of this one lost control in the wet on the M602 in Salford.
“No injuries luckily but please drive to the conditions for everyone’s sake.”

Unveiled in 2021, the Ferrari 296 was presented as the first “real” car made by the Italian manufacturer with six cylinders, with previous such models marketed under the Dino brand in the 1970s.
New cars sell from up to £250,000, with some high spec models costing as much as £329,000.

After a long dry summer, much of the country entered a wet spell over the Bank Holiday weekend. Heavy showers and thundery weather spread across north and west England on Sunday.
