Mars Pyramid Fuels Ancient Alien Theories

A pyramid-like structure on Mars has reignited speculation about an ancient alien civilisation. The three-sided object, first spotted in 2001 by researcher Keith Laney using NASA's Mars Global Surveyor, has been compared in size to the Great Pyramid of Egypt.

Laney, who was scanning images for unusual formations, said at the time: 'Were this found anywhere on Earth, we'd surely be digging into it.' The pyramid is located in the western region of Candor Chasma, part of the Valles Marineris canyon system, the largest in the solar system.

Filmmaker Brian Dobbs featured the pyramid in a documentary on Mars's history, noting its geometric shape. Researcher George Haas, who co-authored a paper on the structure, stated: 'The structural form of this three-sided pyramid... exhibits a level of geometry and symmetry that supports a high probability of artificial origins.'

Despite the intrigue, Dobbs admitted the structure alone does not prove ancient alien life. Laney, however, maintains the pyramid is 'most definitely artificial.' The debate continues as NASA has not officially commented on the theories.
