A mysterious triangular aircraft, dubbed the 'Dorito' by UFO enthusiasts, has been spotted flying over the notorious Area 51 military base in Nevada, sparking fresh speculation about unidentified flying objects and secret government operations.
Videographer Captures Eerie Nighttime Sighting
Off-grid explorer and videographer Anders Otteson made the unusual discovery while recording his desert expedition near the secretive military installation on January 14. At approximately 3am local time, Otteson noticed an unidentified aircraft flying above the restricted area that appeared distinctly different from conventional military planes.
"Are we looking at a classified test flight or run-of-the-mill training sortie? I certainly think we have something interesting here," Otteson commented about his discovery.
The videographer, who operates the YouTube channel Uncanny Expeditions, described the object as having an "equilateral triangle" shape without visible wings or traditional tailing edges. He noted that he had observed a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber flying over the same area approximately two hours earlier, but this new sighting presented a completely different configuration.
Bizarre Radio Chatter Adds to Mystery
Adding another layer of intrigue to the sighting, Otteson claimed that scanning unencrypted radio frequencies around Area 51 revealed unusual communication patterns. According to the videographer and UFO researcher Joerg Arnu, they intercepted coded messages containing bizarre snack and food-related terminology.
The intercepted phrases reportedly included "imperial with garlic," "pretzel snack," and "fridge hydrate" being exchanged between unknown parties. While Otteson acknowledged these could potentially be military jargon, the unusual nature of the terminology has fueled further speculation among conspiracy theorists.
History of Triangular Aircraft Sightings
This isn't the first time Otteson claims to have witnessed similar triangular aircraft. The videographer reported seeing what he described as "an as yet unacknowledged triangle-shaped aircraft" on two previous occasions - once in 2014 over Wichita, Kansas, and another time near Amarillo, Texas.
These repeated sightings of triangular aircraft by the same observer add credibility concerns for some researchers while simultaneously strengthening conspiracy theories for others who believe these represent classified military technology.
Area 51's Enduring Mystique
The remote Nevada military installation has maintained an aura of mystery for decades, with the US government consistently describing it as a flight testing facility while conspiracy theorists propose more exotic explanations. The base remains completely closed to the public, fueling endless speculation about its true purpose and activities.
Believers in extraterrestrial phenomena have long claimed that evidence of alien life and technology is being concealed at the high-security location, with numerous reported UFO sightings in the surrounding desert area over the years. Just last year, social media users sparked new "alien technology" claims after spotting a mysterious triangular tower casting a long shadow on Google Earth imagery of the site.
Despite the latest 'Dorito' sighting and accompanying radio chatter, Otteson maintains a measured perspective, acknowledging that the object could potentially be an advanced bomber aircraft undergoing testing. However, the combination of the unusual triangular shape, nighttime sighting, and bizarre intercepted communications continues to fuel the enduring mystery surrounding one of America's most secretive military installations.
