The Artemis 2 mission marks humanity's first lunar voyage in 53 years, carrying four astronauts aboard the Orion capsule. The crew includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, as well as Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen.

NASA reported a brief issue with the flight termination system before the launch, but it was resolved just over an hour prior to liftoff. The Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft launched from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, sending the crew into deep space.

The four astronauts will circle Earth for about 25 hours before heading toward the moon. The mission will conclude with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, where Navy recovery ships will be stationed off the coast of San Diego.
