The Super Mario Galaxy movie, now in theaters, is packed with nods to other Nintendo franchises, including Star Fox and Super Smash Bros. In a post-credits scene, Fox McCloud, voiced by Glen Powell, flies a Toad to a deserted prison where Bowser (now in Dry Bowser form) and Bowser Jr. are held. The scene uses Star Fox music, sparking fan hopes for a standalone Star Fox film or a Super Smash Bros. crossover.
Another post-credits scene introduces Princess Daisy, ruler of Sarasaland, who is often portrayed as Luigi's love interest. Earlier in the film, Luigi expresses a desire for his own princess after Mario and Peach grow close, hinting at a potential romance in a third movie. Daisy has brown hair and a yellow dress, contrasting with Peach, and is playable in many Mario games.
The film also features cameos from Super Smash Bros. characters, including Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., and Pikmin. Luigi summons Mr. Game & Watch using Bowser Jr.'s paintbrush during the final battle. R.O.B., the Robotic Operating Buddy, appears in a funny cameo voiced by Ed Skudder. Pikmin, plant-like creatures from the Pikmin games, are used by Captain Olimar.
Fox McCloud plays a substantial role, meeting Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi when they are stranded in space. He offers to fly them in his Arwing and joins the battle against Bowser and Bowser Jr., even receiving his own backstory flashback styled as an anime, featuring Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad, and Peppy Hare.
