A woman has revealed how a first date took an unexpected turn after she decided to wear a truly unconventional outfit to gauge her potential partner's reaction.

Teri Kearns, known for her humorous approach to dating on social media, was preparing to meet a man she had connected with on the dating app Hinge. The date took a bizarre twist when her match jokingly suggested she should wear her dolphin outfit.
Showing a screenshot of the message as proof, Teri explained in an Instagram video: "I'm about to go on a first date, and this guy on Hinge told me to wear my dolphin outfit. So I don't think he's actually expecting me to do it, but let's go see what he says."

The subsequent footage shows Teri, clad in a full dolphin costume, knocking on her date's door. When he opened it, his reaction was immediate and unfiltered. An off-camera voice exclaimed, "Holy f**k yeah," before bursting into laughter.

Viewers were highly entertained, with one commenting, "This is the type of unhinged I aspire to be," and another asking if there was a second date, joking they would have "propose[d] right then and there."
However, when a follower pressed for an update, Teri delivered the disappointing news with a crying-laughing emoji: "Never heard from him again." Despite the romantic dead end, her unique approach to breaking the ice certainly made a splash online.
