Mike Graham has been dismissed from TalkTV after the broadcaster said he failed to cooperate with an investigation into a racist post that appeared on his Facebook account. The post, which featured a picture of Winston Churchill alongside a packed London Underground train, included a caption disparaging multiculturalism and non-white people.
Graham, formerly editor of the Scottish Daily Mirror, denied posting the message, claiming his account had been hacked. He immediately deleted the post and apologised, saying he was "mortified" and had enhanced his cybersecurity.
However, News UK, which owns TalkTV, said Graham had agreed to cooperate with an investigation using an independent forensic firm but later "reneged on several opportunities". The company said it had become "gravely concerned" at his repeated failure to cooperate on such a serious matter.
This is not the first time Graham has caused difficulties for the channel. In 2022, TalkTV apologised to the mental health charity Mind after Graham claimed on air that it funded legal fees for asylum seekers. Mind said the claims were "plain wrong". TalkTV admitted it did not offer Mind a chance to respond.
