Tributes have poured in for TikTok influencer Michael Selwood, who has been found dead after being reported missing in Greater Manchester. The 21-year-old, known as Mikey to friends, was reported missing in Tameside over the weekend, prompting an urgent police appeal.
Following a search by Greater Manchester Police, Mr Selwood was found deceased at around 5pm on Sunday (July 19). His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Mr Selwood had amassed 21,000 followers on one TikTok page and around 38,000 on another. Since news of his death, tributes have flooded social media, with one friend describing him as a “legend” and another saying they were “absolutely gutted”.
A Facebook page has been set up with details for a balloon release in Dukinfield on Saturday (July 25) to honour his memory.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Sadly, officers searching for Michael found him deceased at around 5pm yesterday. Michael’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time. We would like to thank everyone who shared and supported this appeal.”
