Netflix subscribers planning to watch Tyson Fury's comeback fight this weekend could face a £1,000 fine if they do not have a valid TV Licence. The heavyweight clash against Arslanbek Makhmudov will be streamed live on Netflix from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11.
While watching on-demand content on Netflix does not require a TV Licence, viewing live broadcasts does. TV Licensing has clarified that anyone watching the live stream must be covered by a licence, warning that failure to comply could lead to prosecution and a maximum fine of £1,000 plus legal costs.
The fight is available to Netflix subscribers at no extra cost, and new customers can access it via Sky's Essential TV bundle for £15 a month or the Ultimate TV bundle for £24, which also includes HBO Max and Disney+. A standard TV Licence costs £180 per year, while a black-and-white licence is £60.50.
Viewers are advised to ensure their TV Licence is up to date before tuning in to avoid the risk of a substantial penalty.
