Tomorrow Never Dies, the 1997 James Bond film starring Pierce Brosnan, has been spotted on Amazon Prime with an eye-watering price tag of £2,000. The listing, which offers the movie in HD, appears to be a pricing error, as the Pierce Brosnan Bond Bundle is available for £24.99, marked down from a listed usual price of £2,025.97.
Reddit Users Speculate on Pricing Mistake
The unusual price was noticed by Reddit users, who shared their theories. User WeDoingThisAgainRWe wrote: 'Seen typos like that before on Amazon. Someone probably thought they were entering a year or the field itself is just mixed up.' MijMike agreed: 'It’s clearly a mistake. Look at the price of the film bundle.' Deanereaner commented: 'I think someone on Amazon’s end just hit a typo and they haven’t noticed because nobody on earth is trying to buy this movie.'
Fans Defend the Film as Underrated
Despite the pricing oddity, Tomorrow Never Dies has a dedicated fanbase that considers it one of the most misunderstood Bond movies. On the r/JamesBond subreddit, user T2-95 called it 'criminally underrated.' Matuatay added: 'Tomorrow Never Dies seems to be one of those films that ages better and becomes more relevant as time marches forward. Plus, it’s Jonathan Pryce vs. Pierce Brosnan. HELL yes!' Another user claimed: 'It is one of my favourite Bond movies. Great soundtrack, great villains, good pacing… and the best opening scene of any Bond movie ever.'
The AV Club’s Jesse Hassenger also praised the film, calling it 'an underrated adventure for Pierce Brosnan’s underrated Bond.'
Critical Reception and Box Office Performance
Upon its release, Tomorrow Never Dies received mixed reviews, holding a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics at the time deemed it too generic to stand out. It also remains the only Brosnan Bond film not to open at number one at the box office, largely due to competition from James Cameron's Titanic.
