Several major UK broadband providers were hit by a widespread internet blackout in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13.

The blackout is affecting BT, Sky, Vodafone and EE according to Downdetector, a real-time online platform that tracks service outages and disruptions.

User reports widespread problem

One BT user wrote: "After an hour hanging on for BT, and after nearly 12 hours trying to solve the fault myself (No digital voice phone service, that I first noticed after a power cut) it turns out it is a much wider problem, nothing to do with my power cut at all. BT hope the service will be restored by 3pm."
