Shoppers have praised the Kindle as being “very easy to use” and say they “take it everywhere”. One person said: “This is a very nice Kindle, lightweight and very easy to use, easy to do the initial setup. Has a Long battery life. Nice bright screen, easy to see what books I have, and easy to read my books. I have the older type Kindle with no backlight, so got this one to make it easier to see my books, and for reading. Very well made, nice and smooth. Good screen size. Good quick page turning too, functionality great. I bought the Kindle cover that goes with it and it fits perfectly.”
Battery lasts for weeks
A second added: “This Amazon Kindle is a fantastic device for anyone who loves reading. The screen is easy on the eyes, even during long reading sessions, and the battery life lasts for weeks on a single charge. It’s lightweight and comfortable to hold, making it perfect for travel or daily use. Access to a huge library of books is incredibly convenient, and the adjustable brightness makes reading enjoyable in any lighting.”
Another person said: “I absolutely love my Amazon Kindle! I read so many more books now simply because I have them all in one place. It’s so convenient and has completely changed my reading habits. I take it everywhere with me — while waiting for my son to finish his clubs, at appointments, on the plane, or relaxing by the pool on holiday. Unlike a phone or tablet, I can read comfortably even in bright sunshine, which is a huge bonus. It’s small, lightweight, and compact, fitting perfectly in my handbag, so it’s always with me. I honestly don’t leave the house without it anymore. If you love reading, a Kindle is one of the best purchases you can make.”
Alternative options and how to get the deal
For those looking for an alternative option, Argos offers the Kobo Clara BW 16GB Wi-Fi E-Reader for £149.99. Shoppers have praised the Kobo device as offering good battery life, a lightweight design, and a really clear screen; the library book borrowing feature has also proved popular. For shoppers with a larger budget, there’s the Kindle Colorsoft (2025) eReader available at John Lewis for £144.99, which allows illustrations to be seen in colour.
Someone else said: “Love this little Kindle. Ideal for reading in bed without having the light on. You can slip this into your bag without taking up much room, if you're on a journey.” Another added: “If you’re after a no-fuss e-reader, the newest generation Amazon Kindle is still one of the easiest recommendations. It’s designed to be small, lightweight and distraction-free, making it ideal for reading anywhere. The 2024 model keeps the familiar compact design but adds a brighter front-lit display, so it’s easier to read in both daylight and at night. The 6-inch glare-free screen with 300 ppi keeps text sharp and comfortable on the eyes, even during long reading sessions. One of its biggest strengths is portability. It’s light enough to hold one-handed for long periods and slips easily into a bag, which is why many people prefer it over larger models. You also get weeks of battery life on a single charge, so it’s great for travel or daily commuting.”
