Xbox Finally Adds Party Chat Audio to Game Captures
Xbox Adds Party Chat Audio to Game Captures

Microsoft has finally introduced the ability to record party chat and in-game audio in native video captures on Xbox consoles, a feature that PlayStation owners have enjoyed for years. The update is now available to Xbox Insiders on the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring and will roll out to other players later this year.

Long-Awaited Feature

For years, Xbox players were unable to include audio from chat with friends in their video clips, a capability that has existed on PS4, PS5, and PC. Fans have expressed their excitement on Reddit, with one commenting, "This took so long. Very happy to see this update!!" Another wrote, "Damn we needed this 10 years ago," while a third added, "Wow! Great things being done finally."

Each player in a party can opt in to the feature, meaning their audio will not be captured if they do not consent.

Additional Console Updates

The party chat capture is part of a host of new console updates announced on Wednesday, August 5. Players will also be able to sort achievements by completion percentage, gamerscore earned, total unlocked, and alphabetically, in addition to the default 'last played' view.

Another new feature allows Xbox gamers to restore old saves that have been synced with the cloud. This will initially work with supported games, starting with Forza Horizon 6, and more titles will be supported in the future. Players can browse available versions of their save and restore one directly from their console.

Improved Wishlist

Additionally, an improved wishlist is rolling out immediately to all Xbox users, not just Insiders. Gamers can now add up to 1,000 games to their wishlists.
