Man Tracks Stolen Suitcase with Apple AirTag, Finds Thief Wearing His Clothes

A frequent flyer had an incredible shock after using an Apple AirTag to track his stolen suitcase, only to find the thief wearing his clothes. Daniel Scott had placed the £30 tracking device in his luggage before a flight from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles in August.

Upon landing at LAX, confusion with baggage handlers led passengers to the wrong carousel. When Daniel's suitcase did not appear, he used the Find My app on his phone and discovered the bag was moving away from the airport. He sprinted to an Uber lot and tracked the signal to a derelict building half a mile away.

Daniel's partner contacted the police, who arrived and shone torches through the building's windows. The thieves surrendered, and Daniel saw one of them wearing his clothes. Police arrested several individuals and allowed Daniel to retrieve his belongings, which were scattered across multiple rooms.

Daniel recovered most of his possessions and advised others to wait for police rather than confronting criminals themselves. He described the ordeal as 'insane' but was 'super-happy' to get his items back.
