Apple Unveils Thinnest iPhone Ever: iPhone Air Leads 2025 Lineup

Apple has launched its thinnest iPhone to date, the iPhone Air, measuring just 5.6mm thick. The device features a 6.5-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness, alongside a new design that eliminates the prominent camera bump seen on recent models. Apple claims the Air is four times more resistant to cracks due to new materials.

The iPhone Air is powered by the A19 Pro chip, described as the fastest CPU in any smartphone, and debuts Apple's N1 wireless chip for improved connectivity. Despite having only one camera, Apple says it functions as a 'system' offering two levels of zoom. The device also includes a cross-body strap accessory and a new 'TechWoven' case material, replacing the discontinued FineWoven.

Alongside the Air, Apple introduced the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and Pro Max. The Pro model features a redesigned camera plateau, larger battery, and enhanced thermal regulation for 40% better sustained performance. It comes in new colours including orange, silver, and blue. The standard iPhone 17 receives a smoother display, action button, and improved damage resistance.

Reports suggest the Air marks the start of a three-year plan to revitalise the iPhone lineup, with a foldable model rumoured for next year. All new iPhones run iOS 26, which introduces 'Liquid Glass' design language. Pre-orders begin Friday, with general sale on 19 September.
