Bose has announced the release of its new Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds, which come packed with features at an affordable price. The audio giant is joining the recent comeback of wired earbuds, combining old-school plug-and-play simplicity with modern technology.
Affordable price and practical benefits
The biggest draw of switching back to cables could be the £99 price tag. That makes these latest music makers from Bose considerably cheaper than many premium wireless rivals. For example, Apple’s latest AirPods start at £119 and the top-rated Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 cost a whopping £249.
Unlike Bluetooth earbuds, there’s also no battery to charge and no pairing process to worry about. Simply plug the USB-C cable into a compatible device and start listening. That could be particularly handy for anyone who regularly switches between iPhone and Android.
Features and design
Another bonus of a wired connection is low-latency audio – keeping sound perfectly in sync when watching videos, gaming or creating content. The earbuds come with full Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), simple controls built into the cable and a 4.2-foot lead for plenty of freedom to move around.
Bose has also placed a dedicated microphone on the back of the remote to help ensure clear voice pickup while minimising unwanted noise caused by contact with clothing. That should mean users can speak naturally without holding the remote close to their mouth. Comfort should also be covered, with small, medium and large silicone eartips included, alongside medium and large stability wings.
Availability and launch
“Wired earbuds are experiencing a cultural renaissance, and when we decided to bring them back, we knew we had to make them even better than before,” said Raza Haider, president of Bose Premium Consumer Audio. Bose says its latest technology has allowed it to bring modern audio advancements to a category it last served years ago.
The Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds will start shipping on October 15 in Black and White Smoke, while a limited-edition Dewdrop Mint version will also be available.
