At the 'Awe-Dropping' Apple event, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch Series 11 were unveiled, with the Ultra 3 emerging as a clear front-runner in terms of battery life and display size. The Ultra 3 boasts the biggest Apple Watch display yet, advancements in health monitoring and location tracking, and an impressive battery life that outperforms the Series 11.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 offers up to 42 hours of battery life on a single charge, compared to the Series 11's 24 hours. Both smartwatches incorporate faster charging technology first seen on the Series 10. The Ultra 3 also features a larger OLED display with 422 x 514 pixel resolution and an upgraded LTPO3 display for smoother refresh rates.
Pre-orders for both smartwatches began on Tuesday 9th September, with release set for Friday 19th September. The Apple Watch Series 11 starts at £369, while the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is priced from £749. The £400 price difference is justified by the Ultra 3's premium materials, including titanium and sapphire crystal, 100m water resistance, improved GPS, and enhanced durability for extreme sports.
Health features also differentiate the two, with the Ultra 3 offering hypertension tracking. Both smartwatches are available for pre-order now, with general availability from 19th September.
