Apple launched the AirPods Pro 3 in September 2025, offering significant upgrades over the AirPods Pro 2, which debuted in 2022. The new model features improved noise cancellation, a sleeker design, and smart additions such as real-time language translation and heart rate tracking. Priced at £219, the AirPods Pro 3 undercut the older model's launch price.
The AirPods Pro 3 have a refined shape and foam-infused ear tips, available in five sizes including a new XXS option. These changes provide a more secure and comfortable fit, addressing issues some users had with the AirPods Pro 2. The earbuds are fractionally smaller and lighter, and the MagSafe charging case is slightly taller and wider but lighter at 44g versus 51g. The case now has a touch-sensitive pairing area instead of a physical button, and both buds and case are IP57 rated for dust and water resistance.
Sound quality has improved with a redesigned acoustic architecture and updated Adaptive EQ, driven by the H2 chip. Users can expect clearer vocals, richer bass, a wider soundstage, and better instrument separation. Active noise cancellation is twice as effective as the previous generation. Battery life is also longer, though exact figures were not provided.
For existing AirPods Pro 2 owners, the upgrade is compelling if they desire fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring, or a better fit. Those satisfied with their current earbuds may find the improvements incremental rather than revolutionary. The AirPods Pro 3 remain visually similar to their predecessors, with subtle design tweaks rather than a complete overhaul.
