Amazon's New 6-Inch Kindle Is Its Most Pocket-Sized Yet

Amazon has announced a reboot of its Kindle e-reader range, headlined by a new 6-inch model that the company describes as its most pocket-sized Kindle ever. The device is only slightly bigger than a phone, making it small enough to fit in a pocket and easier to carry on a morning commute.

Compact Design, Big Features

Despite its small size, the 6-inch Kindle retains key features including six weeks of battery life, a glare-free display, 16GB of storage, and fast page turns for a more immersive reading experience. It is also available with an aluminium back for a more premium feel.

The standard model, priced at £134.99, comes in Ube and Graphite colour options. The aluminium version, priced at £169.99, is available in Alpine Sky and Seaglass Green. Both devices will be available in the coming weeks.

Paperwhite and Colorsoft Upgrades

Alongside the new compact model, Amazon has upgraded the Kindle Paperwhite, which is now thinner and lighter. It features a waterproof design, an adjustable warm light, and up to 12 weeks of battery life. The Paperwhite display now uses an oxide-thin film transistor backplane, and Amazon says it is the largest Kindle Paperwhite display with the highest contrast ratio, delivering deep blacks and crisp text.

The Signature Edition adds an aluminium rear housing, 32GB of storage, and an auto-adjusting front light. For those seeking a more immersive experience, the Colorsoft Kindle has been improved with a display that includes a light-guide with nitride LEDs to enhance colour and increase brightness.

New Accessories and Kids Models

Amazon also introduced a more premium Colorsoft Signature Edition and new Kids Kindle devices, which feature kid-friendly covers designed by real artists and include 12 months of Amazon Kids+.

A range of new accessories includes the Kindle Click remote, which turns pages without touching the screen, a Charging Dock for easy refilling, and a Page-Turn Cover—a magnetic cover with physical page-turn buttons that preserves the slim form factor using pogo pin connectivity.
