Amazon has announced its most significant Kindle refresh to date, introducing four new models including the first-ever colour-screen Kindle. The new lineup features a basic Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Colorsoft, and Kindle Scribe, each with notable upgrades.
The entry-level Kindle now comes in a Matcha colour and boasts a high-resolution 300ppi display for crisp text. It is faster and brighter than its predecessor, matching the brightness of the new Paperwhite. Priced at £94.99, it is available now.
The Kindle Paperwhite has been redesigned with a 7-inch display and offers the fastest page turns of any Kindle. It retains a sleek form factor and is priced at £159.99. The standout model is the Kindle Colorsoft, featuring a 7-inch colour screen that delivers more vivid hues than other colour e-readers, though less saturated than a tablet. It has 300ppi for text and 150ppi for colour images, and is priced at £269.99, available from the end of the month.
The new Kindle Scribe, with a 10.2-inch display, is designed for writing. It includes a stylus that mimics pencil on paper and allows users to write directly in books, with text reformatting around scribbles. New AI features can convert handwriting to text or summarise notes. The Scribe launches on 4 December at £379.99.
