Six models of Tower air fryers have been urgently recalled after being found to pose a fire risk. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) issued the recall, warning consumers to stop using the affected appliances immediately.
The recalled products were manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023 and sold through major retailers including Argos, B&M Bargains, DID, Poundland, Robert Dyas, Sainsbury's, Tesco, and the Tower Housewares website.
According to the OPSS, the air fryers present a risk of fire as they can overheat and ignite during use, failing to meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Tower has initiated a voluntary recall, urging affected customers to unplug their devices and check for further instructions.
To determine if their air fryer is affected, consumers must locate the rating label on the bottom of the appliance and visit the dedicated website at tower-safety.co.uk. There, they can fill out a form with their details and upload a photo of the label to verify eligibility for a refund or replacement.
Tower stated: 'Your safety is our top priority. We recently identified a potential issue with certain Tower air fryer models and are conducting a voluntary recall to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.' The company emphasised that it aims to make the process as simple as possible for affected owners.
