Toniebox Lite Review: £60 Screen-Free Audio Toy Delights Toddlers
Toniebox Lite: £60 Screen-Free Toy Delights Toddlers

Tonies has launched the Toniebox Lite, a compact screen-free audio player priced at £59.99, designed for small hands and ears. The device delivers much of the enjoyment of the standard Toniebox but in a smaller size, without sacrificing quality.

Compact Design and Features

The Toniebox Lite, released on October 5, features a sleek grey hard-shell casing and simple controls: squeezing the ears adjusts volume, while tapping or tilting skips, rewinds, or fast-forwards. It includes a sleep timer that gradually lowers volume before switching off automatically.

The starter set includes a Creative-Tonie named Rubie, which comes with Rubie's Amazing Adventures pre-loaded. Children can also record their own messages, songs, and stories via the Tonies app. The device is fully compatible with the entire Tonies library, including Originals and bedtime titles, except for Tonieplay interactive games, which remain exclusive to the Toniebox 2.

Battery and Parental Controls

The Toniebox Lite offers up to six hours of playtime per charge and works with both wired and Bluetooth headphones. Parents can manage the device remotely through the free Tonies app, including volume controls, playtime limits, and battery monitoring. Setup is completed via Bluetooth in minutes.

Optional silicone covers are available separately in various colours for protection. The Toniebox 2 remains available at £104.99 with additional features like Tonieplay games, a Light Ring, Bedtime Mode, and a Sunrise Alarm.

Customer Reviews

Early reviews, collected as part of a promotion, praise the device. One customer said: "Fun screen free toy. The Toniebox Lite has been so fun to use for my three year-old toddler. The box is perfect for small hands and it's easy to control." Another noted: "The Toniebox Lite My Story Set is a great compact little audio player that you can sync with the app on your phone to set up. It was an easy process, and the box itself is also very easy to use."

On Trustpilot, where Tonies has a 4.3-star rating, one user raised a concern about usability, though not specifying the model. Another user called the Tonies "the best thing since sliced bread," noting its appeal to a 19-month-old. A review of the Toniebox 2 praised its features, including the Tonieplay game and USB-C charging.

Alternatives include the Yoto Mini at Argos for £65 and the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Going Places Learning Purse at £15 from the Early Learning Centre.
