Elon Musk Escalates Feud with Steve Bannon Over Epstein Connections
Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest individual, has launched a blistering series of social media attacks against Steve Bannon, the former senior advisor to President Donald Trump. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has publicly condemned Bannon over his documented associations with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
"Bannon is Evil": Musk's Direct Accusations
In a sustained campaign on his X platform, Musk posted multiple times about Bannon's connections to Epstein. "Bannon is evil," Musk declared in one post, accompanying his statement with a photograph from government files showing Bannon and Epstein together. "That's a real selfie pic with Bannon & Epstein," Musk noted, directly linking the political strategist to the disgraced financier.
The billionaire entrepreneur escalated his accusations further, alleging financial misconduct. "Bannon was laundering money for evil people," Musk wrote in another post. He summarised his view by stating, "Bannon's list of crimes is very long," though he did not specify particular legal violations beyond the Epstein connection.
Documented Epstein-Bannon Relationship Revealed
Steve Bannon, the controversial Republican political advisor who played a key role in Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, has faced renewed scrutiny following document releases from the Department of Justice and House Oversight Committee. These files reveal extensive correspondence between Bannon and Epstein prior to the financier's arrest in July 2019.
According to the newly uncovered documents, Epstein and Bannon exchanged hundreds of texts, emails, and other communications. The records indicate that Epstein was working with Bannon to rehabilitate his public image, which had been severely damaged following his 2008 conviction for prostitution involving a minor. Part of this reputational management effort involved plans to produce a flattering documentary about Epstein.
Government files show Epstein responding to interview questions from an off-camera individual whose voice bears similarity to Bannon's. The two men were also arranging a meeting in July 2019 that Epstein cancelled shortly before his arrest by law enforcement authorities.
Longstanding Public Feud Reignited
Musk and Bannon have maintained a contentious relationship for years, frequently exchanging criticisms through various media channels. Bannon, who hosts the daily program "Bannon's WarRoom," has previously attacked Musk's background and political stance. Last year, Bannon described Musk as an anti-American "globalist" and referred to the South Africa-born entrepreneur as a "parasitic illegal immigrant."
During the summer of 2025, when Musk and Trump were engaged in a highly publicised dispute, Bannon repeatedly criticised the billionaire. "President Trump empowered him more than anyone's ever been empowered, and people like me said you're making a mistake," Bannon commented in June 2025. "This is a bad guy. He's going to turn on us. He's also totally incompetent."
Musk's Intensified Social Media Campaign
In response to these attacks and the Epstein revelations, Musk has dramatically increased his criticism of Bannon in recent days. The billionaire has posted about the political advisor more than half a dozen times within a 48-hour period, adopting what observers describe as a "scorched earth" approach to their feud.
This high-profile conflict has forced figures within conservative political circles to choose sides. Conservative commentator Mark Levin commented on the situation, noting, "Funny how Bannon's fellow antisemites and isolationists have not demanded that HE come clean about his well-established, video-taped relationship with Epstein."
Former Trump advisor Roger Stone offered support for Musk's position, writing on X, "[Elon Musk] certainly turned out to be right about Steve Bannon. No one has done more for free speech rights, and the first amendment then [Musk]."
Contextual Complexity: Musk's Own Epstein Connection
Complicating the situation, government files indicate that Musk himself corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein before the financier's death. This revelation adds layers to the current dispute, as both Musk and Bannon have documented connections to the convicted sex offender, though the nature and extent of these relationships differ significantly according to available evidence.
Bannon has remained largely silent regarding the latest Epstein document releases, while Musk has seized the opportunity to publicly condemn his longtime adversary. The ongoing feud highlights the intersection of technology, politics, and scandal in contemporary public discourse, with two influential figures engaging in a very public battle over associations with a disgraced financier.
