Ben Shephard, the Good Morning Britain presenter, has admitted to buying his wife a fitness band for Christmas in a bid to get her active. The 40-year-old confessed during a Black Friday segment on the ITV programme, sparking a debate about wearable tech.
When co-star Kate Garraway suggested a Fitbit as a gift, Shephard revealed he had purchased one for his wife, Annie Perks, last year. 'I got her one of them last year to try and get her fit,' he said, adding: 'I think it might go down as well as the verruca cream!'
Garraway, 48, laughed at the admission, quipping: 'Merry Christmas Mrs Shephard, it sounds lovely…' The exchange has ignited a tech debate about the effectiveness of fitness bands in encouraging exercise.
Meanwhile, viewers celebrated Shephard's return to the show, with one tweeting: 'Nice to be able to watch #GMB for the first time - thankfully, a Piers Morgan-free zone.' Another added: 'Better morning with @kategarraway and @benshephard. Please ban @piersmorgan so we can all wake up happy.'
