Mike Skinner, frontman of The Streets, has announced a major schedule change for his sold-out Saturday night gig at Manchester's Castlefield Bowl to accommodate England's World Cup quarter final match against Norway. The show, part of the Sounds of the City series, will now start one hour earlier on Saturday, July 11, with doors opening at 4pm instead of 5pm.
Revised Set Times for Saturday
The adjusted timetable means The Streets will take the stage at 7:45pm and finish by 9:30pm, allowing fans to watch England kick off at 10pm. Support acts have also moved forward: Antony Szmierek plays 5:40pm–6pm, and CASISDEAD performs 6:25pm–7:15pm. The Friday night show on July 10 remains unchanged, with doors at 5pm and The Streets on stage from 8:55pm.
Album Performance and Line-Up
Skinner will perform his seminal second album, A Grand Don't Come For Free, in full at both gigs. The album includes hits like 'Fit But Don't You Know It', 'Dry Your Eyes', and 'Blinded By The Lights'. The Saturday change follows England's dramatic 3-2 win against Mexico on Monday, which secured their quarter final spot.
Sounds of the City also features Wet Leg and Johnny Marr earlier in the week. The K's opened the series on Friday, while Saturday evening saw the return of Haçienda Classical for its tenth anniversary.
