Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will wear special Michael Schumacher-inspired Ferrari race suits ahead of their home Grand Prix in Monza. The iconic Italian race will take place next weekend on September 4-6.
Ferrari will pay tribute to the iconic German driver, who spent 11 years in the red colours, winning five world titles. Both Hamilton and Leclerc will wear one-off race suits, in the usual iconic red, with white stripes down the front, arms and across the shoulders.
Seven stars honouring Schumacher's titles
There will be seven stars on the upper back representing Schumacher's seven driver's championship titles, in the same style to the ones the German incorporated onto his helmet. Schumacher's logo will also be on the hip of each race suit.
The legendary driver has been out of the limelight since suffering from a serious accident while skiing in the French Alps in 2013. His family have kept his condition private in the years that have followed, with Ferrari paying tribute to the icon next weekend.
Hamilton's frustration after Dutch Grand Prix
There was drama last time out at the Dutch Grand Prix with Hamilton finishing the race in fourth and his teammate Leclerc in fifth. Hamilton snapped at his team radio over race strategy throughout the race, believing it cost him a place on the podium.
He made his frustration clear following the race, saying: "I'm here to win and I really believe that this team can win. We couldn't win this race but to win championships you have to pick up every point and the last few races have been difficult with penalties and stuff. And then, today, I lost several seconds behind Charles which I think ultimately would have made the difference at the end. But we will take it off line. My goal is to try and lead this team to the championship and we've got some work to do for sure. But today was definitely frustrating for me."
