Celtic head into Friday's Europa League draw in Monaco after dropping out of the Champions League, with the Hoops placed in Pot 2 for the league phase.

The disappointment of a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Austrian side LASK is still raw, but manager Martin O'Neill must lift his squad for another European campaign. Celtic will face eight opponents in the group stage, with the top 24 teams advancing to the knockout rounds.

Among the ten teams Celtic could meet for the first time in competitive action are Marseille, Union Saint-Gilloise, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Celje, Hoffenheim, Toreense, NEC Nijmegen and Levski Sofia.

Fixture changes

The tournament final will be played in Frankfurt next summer. The first Europa League fixture takes place on September 16-17, with Celtic's first league derby of the season rescheduled for Sunday, September 20. This impacts seven other games: Hearts at home on October 17, Hibs away on October 24, Kilmarnock at home on November 7, Hearts away on November 28, Hibs at home on December 12, St Mirren away on January 23 and Falkirk at home on January 30.

Group stage dates

Celtic fans will be keen to make plans once the fixtures are released. The group stage dates are September 16-17, October 15, October 22, November 5, November 26, December 10, January 21 and January 28, with all matches played at the same time.

The draw takes place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, with Martin O'Neill set to discover his side's fate in the second tier competition.
