Martin Brundle was forced to cut short his interview with Jose Mourinho during the grid walk before the Spanish Grand Prix. The Sky Sports presenter had approached the Real Madrid head coach for a brief chat with little time remaining in his segment, but the conversation ended abruptly when the national anthem began.
Mourinho's brief comments on the Madrid circuit
After being congratulated on Real Madrid's victory over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday night, Mourinho thanked Brundle and expressed hope of attending the new Portuguese Grand Prix in his homeland next year. When asked about the new Madrid circuit, located next to the team's Valdebebas training facility, Mourinho began to answer.
He said: "This is right next to where I work, to my training ground. I pass here every day and I saw the evolution of the track. So it meant something for us. And I drove in here, it's very interesting..."
National anthem interrupts
The manager was cut off before he could finish his response. The drivers had already gathered for the national anthem, which began while Mourinho was still speaking. The Sky feed had to switch to the anthem as the music started, prompting Brundle to say "National anthem" and pull the microphone away from his interviewee.
