Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are among the clubs looking to complete their final transfers before the summer window closes on Tuesday, September 1 at 11pm. Teams are rushing to finalise deals, with Manchester City also scrambling to broker late agreements.
Liverpool close in on Barcola
Liverpool appear close to reaching a conclusion in their protracted pursuit of Bradley Barcola. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Reds are now in final negotiations, with the club's owners reportedly involved in discussions with PSG. An agreement is seen as imminent.
Barcola has been Liverpool's top target all window and could cost over £120m. The Times claimed yesterday that PSG had dropped their price tag from £145m to help facilitate a deal. The French club had stuck to that high price but have conceded they must accept less to get the winger off their books, as they look to sell after signing several new forwards in recent weeks.
Man United's Hall plan
Manchester United are willing to wait for Lewis Hall, per The Athletic. With a deal for the English left-back looking unlikely this late in the window, United are ready to bide their time. They would only look to sign a left-back on loan, or on a cheap deal, if they cannot sign Hall in the coming days.
That would leave the path clear to make a big play for the Newcastle United defender next summer. The £60m-rated man is their top target in the position and is earmarked as the long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.
Arsenal and City activity
Arsenal are also looking into a move that could cost them £130m or so for Julian Alvarez. Meanwhile, Manchester City are in the process of green-lighting multiple incomings and outgoings in a busy finish to the window. Man United are keen to sign a left-back to compete with Luke Shaw after completing the signing of £70m midfielder Carlos Baleba.
