Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes will report for pre-season training on Friday, marking the start of their careers at the club following a combined £185million in transfers.
Record Signings Join First Batch of Players
Standard Sport understands that Tonali, who completed a club-record £100m move from AC Milan on Monday, and Fernandes, who arrived from West Ham for £85m last Thursday, will be among the first group of players back at Hotspur Way. Their arrivals cap an aggressive start to Tottenham's summer transfer window under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
They will be joined by a host of academy players, including returning loanees Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear. Moore, who spent last season at Rangers, was named both Rangers' young player of the season and the Scottish Premier League's young player of the season. Lankshear, after a loan at Oxford United, was named Oxford's young player of the season after finishing as the club's top scorer with 12 goals.
Interest in Loanees and World Cup Returnees
Interest in Moore and Lankshear is reportedly gathering pace, and both players will continue to assess their options heading into the new season. Meanwhile, players who participated in the World Cup this summer will see their returns staggered depending on their progress in the competition. Andy Robertson is expected to be one of the first players back after Scotland exited in the group stage.
Pre-Season Schedule
Spurs will have 12 days to prepare before their first pre-season game, a behind-closed-doors friendly against MK Dons at Hotspur Way. The following day, the squad will travel to New Zealand for a pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia, with friendlies scheduled against Auckland FC, Sydney FC, and Chelsea.
Pre-season preparations will conclude with a friendly against Spanish side Getafe at Hotspur Way, followed by a double-header against Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim one week before the start of the Premier League season.
