Rangers Eye £13m January Swoop for Neil, Mundle & Bowie Amid Squad Overhaul
Rangers Target Sunderland Duo & Hibs Striker in January Window

Glasgow Rangers are plotting an ambitious January transfer window, with enquiries made for Sunderland pair Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle and interest registered in Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie.

Double Deal Nears Completion for European Defenders

This flurry of activity comes as the Ibrox club were also closing in on securing two defensive reinforcements. Rangers are poised to sign Sturm Graz midfielder Tochi Chukwuani for a fee of approximately £4 million. The Danish Under-21 international is expected to bolster the midfield ranks.

Alongside him, left-back Tuur Rommens from Westerlo should arrive for around £3 million. Rommens, who has represented Belgium at Under-21 level, is seen as a key addition to the defensive line. These moves signal the club's intent to back manager Danny Rohl as they cement their status as serious title contenders this season.

Midfield and Attack in Focus for Gers

The interest in Sunderland's Dan Neil is particularly intriguing. The central midfielder, who captained his hometown club to Championship play-off success at Wembley in May, would provide cover for the injured Connor Barron. Neil has only featured three times in the Premier League this season and is out of contract next summer, making him a potentially astute acquisition.

His teammate, winger Romaine Mundle, is also on Rangers' radar. Having made eight substitute appearances this term, he is understood to be keen on more regular football. Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris admitted the possibility of a loan exit, stating: ‘If a player won’t play too much in the second part of the season, there is the possibility for him to find another club to get minutes.’

Rangers face competition for Mundle, with Espanyol and Club Brugge also interested, while Neil has attracted attention from other Championship clubs.

High-Value Striker Target and Squad Reshuffle

Perhaps the most significant and costly target is Hibernian and Scotland striker Kieron Bowie. The Easter Road club value the forward, who has shown flashes of brilliance this season, at around £6 million. Securing his signature would represent a major statement of intent.

To facilitate these potential arrivals, a significant clear-out is anticipated at Ibrox. It is expected that Rangers could offload at least six players before the transfer window closes to free up funds and squad space. Manager Danny Rohl confirmed he has held conversations with players about their futures, emphasising the need for clear decisions.

Rohl expressed his excitement about the window, saying: ‘I think we said this before, that we are really looking for the window... But you have to be hungry and you have to be ambitious also in the market.’ This proactive approach underscores Rangers' determination to build a squad capable of sustaining a title challenge.
