Larsen, 25, scored 14 Premier League goals last season and joined Wolves permanently from Celta Vigo for £23 million this summer. He is seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left for West Ham. Shearer joked that Larsen's price had 'gone up another £10 million' after Anthony Gordon's suspension, which leaves Newcastle short of attacking options.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has used Gordon as an improvised striker, but Gordon's red card against Liverpool means he will miss the next three games.
