Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet for a fee of £52 million, with an additional £8.6 million in add-ons, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 20-year-old France Under-21 international is expected to join the Reds on a long-term contract at the end of the current season.
Jacquet, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich, has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool. Rennes were unwilling to let him leave in the January window but have given the green light for a summer transfer.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's late move for Lutsharel Geertruida has fallen through. The Reds had been offered the chance to take the Sunderland loanee on loan until the end of the season, but Sunderland could not find a replacement before Monday's deadline. Geertruida is now expected to prepare for Sunderland's Premier League match against Burnley.
On the outgoing front, Curtis Jones has been linked with Inter Milan, while Dominik Szoboszlai's future remains uncertain and Andy Robertson has been mentioned as a target for Tottenham. Liverpool have not made any first-team signings or departures in the January window so far.
