Harry Amass Transfer Twist: Sheffield Wednesday Confident of Re-Signing Man Utd Loanee

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has expressed growing confidence that Manchester United full-back Harry Amass will return to the club for the second half of the season. The 18-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Hillsborough, making 21 appearances before his temporary spell expired at the start of January.

Amass has attracted interest from a host of Championship clubs, including Stoke City, with up to 12 sides reportedly monitoring his situation. However, Pedersen revealed in his pre-match press conference that he remains optimistic about securing the youngster's services again. 'With Harry there is good communication, but we’ve not finalised anything. So in the end I don’t know where that will end, but I’m still positive,' he said.

The Owls boss added: 'I think I’m between hopeful and confident about it. It’s more than just hope, because there is also a belief that it can happen. But there are still many circumstances in the big picture, however I have hope and belief that it can still happen.' Pedersen stressed the need for a swift resolution, stating: 'I hope that there will be a decision soon, because otherwise we have to think what we will do instead of him.'

Amass was not included in Wednesday's squad for their FA Cup defeat to Brentford last weekend, and his last appearance came on January 4 against QPR. Since the initial loan agreement was struck, former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has left Old Trafford, with Michael Carrick taking over on an interim basis. There has been no indication that United plan to recall Amass for first-team duty, with Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu currently competing for the left-back spot.
