Manchester United have learned their Champions League opponents for the 2026/27 season, with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid headlining a demanding group-stage schedule.
Glamour ties and a revenge mission
United will host Bayern Munich at Old Trafford and travel to Atletico Madrid in two heavyweight clashes. The Bayern fixture carries extra significance: United have not played in the Champions League since losing 1-0 at home to the German side in December 2023, a result that left them bottom of their group.
Spanish, German and Italian tests
Beyond Bayern and Atletico, United face RB Leipzig at home and Villarreal away, giving them four opponents from the Bundesliga and La Liga. They also host Roma at Old Trafford, a fixture that recalls a 7-1 win over the Italians in 2007 and a 6-2 Europa League victory in 2021, and travel to Italy to face Cesc Fabregas' Como.
Newcomers and a trip to Portugal
United round off their campaign with an away match against Sporting in Portugal and a home game against Sabah, the Azerbaijani champions who are new to the competition. The full fixture schedule, with confirmed dates and kick-off times, will be officially released no later than Saturday.
